Terms of Use

Last updated: May 3, 2026

These terms apply to anyone using The Echo (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. Nature of the Service

The Service is a personal, non-commercial experiment to accumulate dialogues about a specific exhibition between a generative AI and the general public. There are no advertisements, paid features, or subscriptions.

This site is an independently-operated, unofficial project. It is not affiliated with the museums, artists, or other parties referenced herein.

Use of the Service is generally intended for those aged 13 and over. Those under 13 should use it under the consent of a parent or guardian.

2. Accuracy of AI Responses

Responses are generated by an AI. They may contain factual errors, inaccurate statements, or subjective interpretations. The operator does not guarantee the accuracy of any response.

For important decisions, academic citation, or use as official information, please verify against primary sources. The operator assumes no liability for outcomes resulting from actions taken based on Service responses.

If the AI generates factually incorrect statements about a real person, please contact the operator promptly — whether you are the individual concerned or someone close to them. We will verify the report and take action, including deletion of the relevant session log and suppression of the offending pattern. Contact information is on the Privacy Policy page.

3. Acceptable Use

To keep the Service welcoming, please:

  • Do not enter personally identifiable information (name, address, contact details, etc.)
  • Do not post defamatory or discriminatory content about others
  • Do not request or post content promoting illegal acts or self/other harm
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the Service or the AI's operation
  • Do not access the Service in bulk via bots or scrapers

If the AI judges a session to violate the above, it may close the dialogue. Such logs may be reviewed by the operator for quality purposes.

4. Saving Conversations

Only conversations you explicitly choose to save are stored. Saved conversations are referenced for future response generation. By choosing to save, you agree that:

  • The conversation text is stored in the Service database
  • It will be processed (vectorized, etc.) and referenced for future responses
  • No personally identifying information will be stored alongside

Saved conversations are retained as long as the Service is operational. See the Privacy Policy for details.

5. About References

The Service generates responses by referencing publicly available articles, interviews, and official information related to specific exhibitions, works, and artists, in summarized and reconstituted form. The AI is instructed not to quote external sources verbatim but to summarize them in its own words (see System Prompt).

Source references are listed at References. Rights holders who wish to request removal or correction may contact the operator.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service's design, code, and writing belong to the operator unless otherwise noted. The AI's system prompt is published for transparency; if you publish a modified version as a separate service, please indicate that it is a derivative.

7. Disclaimer

The operator assumes no liability for any damages arising from or related to the use of the Service. The Service may be changed, suspended, or discontinued without notice.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan.

9. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated as needed. Significant changes will be announced on this page.

10. Contact

For inquiries, please use the contact information on the Privacy Policy page.
